It is a sector in the Office of Justice “Amt für Justiz” which is a cantonal institution. We are located next to a police station and a prison.
We sadly were denied the chance go to England because of Corona. However, we had the opportunity to start our internship half-a-year earlier, which I am beyond grateful for.
So far, I have enjoyed my internship and everyone is extremely nice. I expect from my internship that I will learn all the important elements which are needed to work and hopefully even beyond. In the first couple of weeks I have learned that doing things by the book is really important.
My typical working day starts at 07:30 in the morning with turning on my computer and all the programs required for the day. My task is to scan different types of documents and it is important to note that there are two main groups of documents: entry-mail and current cases. I go to the counter and pick up the entry-mail from the previous day. I always scan them first. Firstly, I put the documents in the scanner, scan and name them. Afterwards I check them and sometimes open Business-Cases in our system. This takes me approximately two and a half-hour. Thereafter I take a well-earned break with my colleagues which is normally around 10 o’clock. After that, I scan the old flies from the days before. I will do that till my day ends. My lunchbreak is around 12:30 pm to 01:00 pm. I try to keep it at half-an-hour. After the lunchbreak I keep on scanning the documents and naming them. My day usually ends at 05:15 pm. I love my work but there is still one part I like best. It may sound silly, but I really enjoy printing out documents. Let me explain, when I scan the entry-mail, some clients send a permit within the documents. My job is to print out a cover sheet, fold it, put the ID Card inside; and file it by name. »
